Thinking Of Buying a New or Used Car?

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

If you’re thinking about buying a car, play it smart and do your homework before just going browsing at a dealership. You don’t want to pay more than is fair, and there are issues on safety and mileage and such that you’d do well to consider before making a decision on which car you want to buy.

There are two books you’ll want to have on hand before choosing a particular year and model. To evaluate price, consult the Kelly Blue Book, which is the last word on the subject. The other book or magazine you’ll need is a car buyers guide. There are many different car buyers guides. You’ll find information online as well. What’s the difference between the Kelly Blue Book and a car buyers guide?

The Kelly Blue Book gives you the fair market value of any car you choose to buy. Factors used include make, model, year, condition and equipment. Banks use the Blue Book as well to evaluate loan values. The Blue Book assures you’ll pay a fair price and get good value. That’s just the money side of your purchase.

A car buyers guide is the consumer’s friend, helping you evaluate different cars as to quality, features, options available, safety, performance and the like. So before you rush out and buy a car just because you like the way it looks, take a look at a car buyers guide. Newsstands carry a variety of these and you’ll find this type of consumer information in abundance online.

If you’re fond of gadgets in the car, you’ll want to compare different makes of car to find out who rates best on quality of that Audio system you want.

Maybe you do a lot of city and crowded freeway driving and you find it important to have a car that is quick to respond when the guy in front of you slams on his brakes. A car buyers guide includes features on performance, braking and maneuverability in tight situations. This is news you can use, don’t you think?

A car buyers guide, along with the Kelly Blue Book will give you all the information you need to get value for your money in just the right car for you.

Cheap Lambo Doors

Cheap lambo doors, or scissor doors for the novices, provide a classy upgrade over your standard car door. These scissor doors open upwards instead of outward with a swinging motion, either by hand or with the press of a button. In order to modify your four-wheeler with cheap lambo doors, you have to remove certain parts like fenders and make way for hinges to install it. You can either remove parts or bolt cheap lambo doors in place of the old car door.

How To Take Great Pictures Of Your Ford Mustang

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

The first step in taking a great picture of your Ford Mustang is to make sure it’s clean. Wash it, dry it and clean your tires. Next make sure the hood, the trunk and all windows are closed. Check your visors to make sure they are both up. You want a clean vehicle in your car photos.

A suitable location is essential when taking pictures. This is true whether you are trying to sell the car or just taking car photos for the fun of it. You should look for an area with a clean background before shooting the car photos. Who wants to show off their Mustang surrounded by a bunch of junk?

Objects in the background will make your photos look messy, and will obscure the Mustang’s lines and detail. The best background is one that is even and not too bright. A concrete or tarmac floor with a solid wall behind it can be a good location for car photos. Wetting down pavement darkens it and provides a ‘glistening’ highlight effect. Grass can be good as long as the background is not cluttered, but should only be used as a last resort. Try to avoid light or telephone poles. If your shooting in front of your garage, make sure the garage door is closed in your car photos.

When using your camera outside, the best results are obtained when the car is parked out of direct sunlight. Bright sunlight tends to highlight surface swirl marks, and makes the Mustang’s color look washed out. Shooting your car photos with a digital camera on an overcast day, or with the car parked in the shade, usually gives good results. Just make sure your flash doesn’t cause a glare on the image.

If your Mustang is yellow, or another bright pastel hue, it will be more difficult to shoot a good picture. Try parking it on white concrete to benefit from upward-reflection of sunlight or skylight. Sunrise or sunset is the best time of day to shoot this color car. If the car photos are taken at mid-morning or mid-afternoon, utilize the clean shade provided by a building and use your flash.

Try zooming in or out so that the Mustang almost fills the entire screen with a small area around it for balance. Shoot from a normal standing position at eye level. Shooting from to low may make the car look distorted in the car photos.

If you are going to use the picture to sell your Mustang, you should shoot the vehicle from 3 different angles. One photo should show the Mustang from front three-quarter. One photo should show the Mustang from side on. The third photo should show the Mustang from rear three-quarter. Remember, buyers are more interested in what the car looks like, not how good you are at photography.

Mitsubishi Sportback looks good

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Coming soon, along with the EVO X is the Sportback, built on the same platform as the Evo X – in fact, this might be the body for the Evo X, but also for lesser-powered cars. Anyway, it gets the aggressive new Mitsubishi front end, with a very smart fastback design. Looks very good, and should do a lot for Mitsubishi.

Also spent a bit of time around the new Audi TT. It is rather understated in appearance, and is spoiled by the very high waistline and shallow roof dictated by the tall transverse engine package from the Golf/Passat. A pity about that, and also that the car is just a little too short and high to look as exciting as it might. C’est la vie!

You cannot have a sail boat without a sail. It was the sail grafted onto the boat that provided humans with a new means of getting around – a faster way than rowing. A boat without a sail, therefore, was not a sail boat at all. It is simple mathematics: sail and boat equals sail boat.

The above paragraph was from one of the many quality articles that can be found at sail boats site for those of us who just love to go sailing.

Rising summer gasoline prices

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

An article about rising summer gas prices and some saving tips and hints

Many people, myself included, wrote articles about how to save gas money. Though there are a lot of useful tips out there, the only way you can really save any sizable amount of money on gasoline prices is to quit driving. It’s not a secret that Americans love their cars, and it will take more than soaring gasoline prices to get them out of them. However, as much as the oil companies believe this to be true, I do think there is a breaking point. While I only curbed my driving a little this summer when gasoline prices were extremely high, there would have been a point when I seriously might cut driving down to accommodate the rising cost.

Find the best car with a car buyers guide

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

An article about finding the best car deal using a car buyers guide

It is amazing how big a role brand loyalty plays in what cars people buy. Usually, they get in the habit of buying one model or another, and stick with it for as long as they can. Although the quality of car that a company makes changes from year to year and model to model, nonetheless it will continue to have the same loyal and dedicated fans that it has always had. If you don’t use a car buyers guide, or some other objective source to help you pick out the best make and model for your needs, you can end up with a substandard car just because you are used to buying cars from that company. Trust me I know. It has happened to me before.

BMW M3: Full Story on Fast-Autos

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

After all the rumours of the new BMW M3 having a big V-8 here it is – and what a corker! We’ve now got the full story behind this amazing, compact supercar on Fast-Autos! With a very compact, light V-8 engine, producing 420 bhp – 60 bhp more than the excellent six-cylinder engine of the previous model – the new M3 rises to new heights. No more a sporting coupe, now a real supercar capable of hitting 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, but limited to 155 mph.

Not only that, but the guys at the BMW M Center were not having the standard panels of the standard 3 Series, but wanted to make the car looker sleeker, and so  here is the best looking BMW for many a year. Sleekness replaces the quirkiness of the current generation. In fact, only the headlamps, doors, windows and trunk lid are common to other 3 Series models, otherwise the car is completely reskinned.

The M3 remains unmistakably BM, but has a much more sporty look than the standard car, and a practical one at that. At the front, there is a large air intake below the grille, with wide intakes each side, and these change the look of the car. Note that there are no fog/driving lamps cluttering up these intakes, as is common these days on everything from a Porsche down to rather boring pseudo-sporty sedans.

Finding The Lowest Quotes For Minimum Coverage Car Insurance

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

We all have to have insurance and based on that, most of will shop for the best car insurance quotes.  With the Internet, it’s possible to do in minutes, what took hours, possibly days.  But there are several things to consider before signing on the dotted line.  What you’re buying is called a policy and the price you’ll pay for this policy is dependent on several factors; your age, driving record, state you live in, type of car and other factors.

What you want to do is tailor the policy to suit your needs.  For me, I have minimum coverage, as defined by the state.  This is the law and I cannot buy anything with less coverage, but I can shop for which company offers the lowest payment.  And speaking of payments, most insurance companies will allow you to pay monthly, quarterly or yearly.  I chose monthly because of my cash flow.

Not mentioned earlier is your credit history; seems it follows you everywhere and yes… even when buying insurance.  So when you pay your bills on time, you might be lowering your car insurance at the same time.  Seems convoluted, but it works.  Most (if not all) of the quality insurers will offer car insurance online, and once on the website you’ll be able to perform various tasks concerning your policy.

Main thing is this; shop the rates, get covered, and drive legally, you’ll be glad you did next time you see those flashing lights behind you.
