Finding the cheapest car insurance

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Finding the cheapest car insurance might be a little harder than some of the television commercials would lead you to believe. However, there are some ways to narrow down the competition by simply looking for the ones that say they offer the lowest. That does not mean that they do, but that is a place to start. The problem is that car insurance is something different for everyone. Some need some things and others don’t need much. If you have to have full coverage on your car, you are going to pay more than someone with liability only. The laws change from state to state as well, and that can make it even more complicated

The auto black book is good for approximate value

Monday, June 25th, 2007

People put a lot of stock in the auto black book, but there is more to cars than black book value. I should know. I am a used car salesman, which means that I make my living honestly appraising and selling cars for their value. It is important to know the automotive black book rate, but that isn’t although there is to it. Depending on how well you care for your car, what repairs and modifications you make, and even what climate you live in, the auto black book value can be way off. The car can be worth half of what it should be, or worth twice the book value. It all depends.

Increase your security with an audiovox car alarm

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Don’t jump to conclusions about car security systems! So many people assume they’re merely for defending your vehicle when you’re not around. In other words, keeping it from being stolen or broken into. I beg to differ. An Audiovox car alarm will do much more than that. First of all, you can have options with a key pad. You know, that little do-hicky that dangles from your keychain. You might enjoy features such as the remote-start option. This allows you to start your vehicle’s engine as you approach it. Have it ready to go before you even climb inside.

Invest in a good anti theft device

Monday, June 25th, 2007

One of the most popular anti theft devices is the Club. You’ve surely seen these tough gadgets that lock into your vehicle’s steering wheel. You can latch one in every time you leave your vehicle unattended. I can’t tell you how many of these I spotted in the 1990s. They basically tell potential car thieves that there’s no way you can drive away with this vehicle. Now, as popular as this device was and still is, most folks go for a more subtle anti theft device. Think car security systems. You can have a decent car alarm installed into any vehicle for a reasonable price. One or two hundred dollars should do it.

Italian Driving – Wow!

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

I’ve just been driving in Italy – did about 600 miles there – and found the driving quite amazing. I’ve been many times before, but not for a while, and have not done a long journey down the autostrada.

First, you don’t see many sports cars, let alone supercars. In fact, the only ones I saw were the ones I went to see and drive. But once on the autostrada a lot of Italians drive like mad – except around Bologna where they have speed cameras round the bypass to keep speeds down.

You can be doing 90 mph in the outside lane, coming up behind doing a little less, and usually before they have moved over, you will have at least one Audi, BMW or Mercedes bearing down on you, headlamps on. They eventually slow to your speed when about two feet off your bumper. By this time, the guy in front may have moved across, so you accelerate, and the guy behind comes right with you, until you move over or accelerate up to his speed. He’ll be doing anything from 100 to 120 mph.

Lotus 2-Eleven on Fast-Autos

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Lotus 2-Eleven is a small supercharged sports car with trackday performance.
Like the original Lotus Eleven, the Lotus 2-Eleven is very light and compact, but packs a punch from a small but powerful engine. The Lotus Eleven was a truly sensational car in its day, not just for its light weight, but also for its very low drag – a real trend-setter.

Maybe the 2-Eleven lacks the stunning originality of the Eleven, but it does look different, and is lightweight. The modern twist is the use of a supercharged version of the Toyota 1.8 liter engine from the Elise, and the result is a 0-60 mph time of under 4 seconds and 0-100 mph in a little over 9 seconds– well up among supercars in performance.
