It seems a little strange, but one of the most critical components of our car, truck or SUV, namely it’s tires, go largely ignored by most drivers. Tires are inextricably interwoven with safety. Why is there this tendency to take them for granted?
We tend to think of tires like we think of electricity. Electric power is taken for granted. We never give it a second thought until it goes out. But when it does, all manner of inconvenience follows.
It’s the same with tires. We would just as soon ignore them. All is well until we get a flat or blowout. Then all sorts of disruptions are apt to follow. We miss an important meeting, cannot get to the gym or have to pass up lunch with a friend. Or worse, our tires were in such poor condition that they contributed to an accident. And the list goes on.
Fortunately, tire makers today are consistently improving tire performance and safety. Nevertheless, we, as car owners, have to cooperate. All things mechanical can only take so much wear and tear. Regardless of the superb quality and performance currently available, tires have their limits. It’s up to us to provide ongoing maintenance in the form of correct tire pressure, regular rotation, proper alignment and balancing. All that said, whether through calamity, neglect or ordinary wear and tear there inevitably comes a time when tire replacement is unavoidable. We dread the root canal and we dread the tire dealer.

I thought this sounded too good to be true. I went on one of the sites. I filled in the boxes that asked what price range I was interested in, what make and model and how many miles on the vehicle. I could be as general or specific as I wanted to be. I was then asked to type in my zip code and what mile radius I was willing to travel from that zip code. I entered all the information and found three cars in the area that met the criteria that I entered. One was for sale by owner and the other two were at dealerships. I called the private party to make arrangements to see the car. My husband and I went and looked at the cars that were at the dealerships. We then went and looked at the car from the private party. The individual that had the car had kept great maintenance logs and the car had very low miles on it. There was a small dent in the back fender; otherwise the car was in great shape. We bought the car and made arrangements to switch over the title the next day. It was the smoothest process I had ever been involved in when purchasing a vehicle.

My mom always told me that I did everything the hard way. She was right. It held me back for most of my childhood. I would remember my textbook word for word instead of skimming for facts. I would take three times as long as I really needed to write an essay. My thoroughness was killing me. This held me back all through high school and college, making my social life more difficult and my academic life less effective. However, it did do one thing for me: it gave me a career.

There are a lot of great things I like about big block engines. One of the biggest draws, of course, is the noise and the power. I confess that I’m a typical guy in this respect. I love the growl of big block Chevy engines more than almost any other sound. It is music to my ears when the engine roars, the tires squeal, and the car takes off down the strip at breakneck speed. Nevertheless, there are many other great things about a big block engines as well.

If I said to you that I practiced defensive driving all of the time, I would be lying. However, I do most of the time, and I find that if I don’t, I can get extremely aggravated with myself and everyone else on the road. If I were to take an aggressive stance on driving I may very well would have lost my license by now. Defensive driving is something that everyone on the road should be doing, but most people wouldn’t even dream of it.

To save on the cost of the collision coverage on a new driver, consider purchasing a used vehicle that cost between one thousand five hundred and three thousand five hundred dollars. Make sure that it is mechanically sound for your driving needs. If you want to cover this vehicle for theft and vandalism, you can purchase comprehensive coverage. Instead of purchasing collision coverage on this vehicle, purchase uninsured motorist property damage coverage.

Sheer power was the goal with the Ultimate Aero TT , and the answer was a massive turbocharged V-8 of 1,183 bhp, giving a projected top speed of well over 250 mph. Built to be the fastest production car in the world, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT is the most powerful production car. A little while after the Bugatti Veyron went into production, I observed that many specialists would try to beat it stop speed of 248 mph, and were busy turbocharging big engines to make it happen. Will it beat Bugatti’s record? If it does you will find the news at Fast-Autos

Many people are asking the question of how to improve gas mileage on their vehicles and others are purchasing more economical cars. There are some practical things that can be done to decrease the number of trips that are made to the pump. One of the simplest answers to how to improve gas mileage is simply to drive less. Incorporate errands so you are not making as many trips car pool and ride share as often as possible. If there are short trips try walking or riding a bike. Young drivers are often hard on gas mileage because they do not drive at a consistent rate of speed. Talk to your young drivers about accelerating slowly and driving the speed limit. Another answer to how to improve gas mileage is to make sure that you have proper inflation in your tires.

A drunk driving accident can happen at anytime and anywhere. I’ve seen them in the afternoon and late at night. Sometimes the drunk drivers are the most injured, other times they walk away from the accident without a scratch. So many of my college friends used to tempt fate by driving drunk and somehow lived to tell about it. There are certain holidays that seem to have more drunk driving accidents occur than others. Your first assumption would be New Year’s Eve, but that is not actually accurate. Thanksgiving is the most popular holiday for drunk driving. Halloween ranks fairly high as well. I have begun to stay in on New Year’s Eve for the past five years and I know many others who have begun to do the same. It simply is not worth it. If you cannot imagine New Year’s Eve without a few drinks, be more responsible about your drinking. Stay home and drink.

One common injury that many people suffer during a car accident is soft tissue injuries to the neck. This injury is usually referred to as whiplash. For a car accident victim the painful effects of whiplash aren’t often felt until the shock of the accident itself has worn off. You may feel fine right after the collision yet the next day feel as though you can’t move your neck. If this is the case you need to see your doctor as soon as possible.

Drunk driving doesn’t have to occur. That’s the easiest type of auto accident to avoid. Simply make the responsible decision to not drink and drive. Too often, the drunk driver is the one to survive the accident and the sober individuals end up losing their lives. It never seems fair. When you make the decision to get behind the wheel after having some drinks, you are admitting that you have no respect for yourself or others. A lot of accidents also occur because people just aren’t paying attention. Every day, I see tons of drivers zoom past me while talking a mile a minute on their cell phones. People may think that they are being responsible by purchasing hands-free kits for talking while driving, but anytime you are focused on anything other than the road, you are creating a potential tragedy. Perhaps it isn’t a cell phone that is distracting you. I’ve seen people reading the newspaper while driving, putting on make-up, and my personal favorite – painting their fingernails. I’m surprised that more people aren’t killed on a daily basis in my hometown because of the ridiculous things that I’ve seen.
